holidays and things in between

miss my crib for the longest time and i content myself by posting laconic greetings during the holidays. but it doesn’t mean i intend to neglect this further. it’s just difficult to juggle work, holiday rush, workin’ on my working visa, family reunions, christmas kitakits with friends, poker nights and …LUVLYF! (haha!).

and seriously, i miss visiting cribs i diligently follow. you guys know who you are! i promise to cope with your posts. i miss your stories big time :-) everyone got very interesting stories to tell.

now that the christmas tree rests idly again inside the cupboard and only torn wrappers and ribbons from the avalanche of gifts that sat underneath it were left…i’m moving forward and facing this year’s opportunities (yeah very optimist noh?! :p) with much enthusiasm :p

and even before 0-07 bidded goodbye, had all kinds of life’s celebration.

arts & music.
Avenue Q!!!! raves about this sesame street / rent cross line were not products of media hype! it’s one amazing show, i regret not being able to see the first time during its september show. we’re lucky enough though to score the 22nd december evening show. heard it was an instant sold out on its repeat performances. i mean how can you not spread the word if you can relate in one way or another to kate monster, to princeton, to christmas eve, to gary coleman to rod to nicky and even to trekkie the monster :-) hahah! and the cast?! wooopeee! really amazing! frenchie can be very funny big time! aiza and felix are equally great actors! and rachelle? wow!!! she’s a star! i now like her as rachel the singer..the actress…and not as rachel-dingdong during my teenage years! :-) you wouldn’t believe how the actors and the puppets become one in emotion and the emotion they try to convey to the audience! seriously even up to now…i have a bad case of LSS on ‘there’s a fine fine line’. (side note: i was teary when it was sung on the play. kakahiya grabe!). i hope they’d stage it again here for the 3rd time :p

one more chance. oh yes! for those who know me, i hardly watch super chick flicks.thus i was taunted big time by my colleagues and college friends for bugging them to see it for themselves, why after watching it 3x in movie houses (on different occasions), i repeatedly welled tears kase super feel na feel ko ang luv story ni basha and ni popoy! and to think, i’m not even john lloyd-bea follower ah?! after seeing that movie, i wanna meet liz uy and tell her…’pede maki-share’ (on john lloyd)? hahah!

two other films i saw..batanes & sakal, sakali saklolo! and heartily i’d say, go see it! one is superb the other is super funny!

attended a wedding of my grad school friends in alabang. it’s a very unique party but really expressed the individuality of the couple. ok, the couple belongs to the TWE (third world elite)..hahah! maybe, or so i guessed just looking at how lavish the event was…but they didn’t fail to make their guests feel homey…from the big bikes parade, to the bride’s marching, to the reception, to the dance music and even to the wines and desserts served…everything is just identifiable to the couple! awwww! if only all relationships have haaapppy endings like this :x

it’s one wedding, that i went home super satisfied too. a buffet with over 20 variety of menu! woaah! the cheese board is my winner! and oh ok, the sushi, sashimi and the maki! i hoarded i think on the seafood alone. i wasn’t able to touch the palatable lamb chops at the opposite corner of the table cos i was already full, and i was reserving my compartment for that mean mango crepe! i’m a sucker for crepes, ok?! :-)

too bad i was driving home. all my friends were enjoying every JD coke service whilst i stopped early and ordered bottled water to rinse alcohol in my system. nonetheless, it was a great night of merrymaking.

family reunions.
it’s not easy growing up with a big family of singers-wanna-be. everyone is up to the challenge of bagging the perfect score in that genius invention…the magic sing
:-) one gets to receive P500 from our aunts/uncles if you can score 100. and to all my cousins and nieces/nephews…it’s not about the prize…it’s getting the honor of being the best singer in the clan even if it means singing the sappiest, oldest and corniest piece! hahaha! since i’m last year’s defending champion, (with my savin’ all my luv for you rendition), i have the privilege of choosing the first & second song for the night…and wooopee! what else would i choose but the ones i’ve been practicing for months…bette davis eyes and girls just wanna have fun! :-) they both turned out blockbuster songs among all my cousins but scored only a shocking 63%! obviously i lost, but i was happy nonetheless. it feels good to be with your cousins, with your relatives, with your family. they can be very rowdy at times but generally they’re insanely fun people to be with!!! :-)

and believe me, i’ve never seen meat in one place at one time…only on my clan’s very long dining table! carnivores they are! moooo!

Happy New Year Banggi! It’s been awfully quiet here so I’m glad to finally read about your adventures during the holidays. Hope to see you soon!

P.S. Who was your date in Avenue Q? Sorry, I just had to ask. Hehehe :)

Was in Manila on Dec.20, cousins got tickets to Avenue Q and I saw it that night. I missed the show when it came through San Francisco but heard a lot of good things about it. It didn’t disappoint. Despite the jet lag I was rolling with laughter. Also saw Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo. Funny and not corny. While there I ate as much Sashimi as I could and drank lots of red wine. Eventually I had to go on a diet, while there, cause I was getting too fat. Holidays in the Philippines is just so much more fun! If I’m lucky I will be back again next year.
